A Deaf-led panel and workshop centering real lived experiences of Deaf Black and Brown individuals in the legal and criminal justice system. Participants will listen first, then engage in guided reflection and discussion focused on accountability, ethics, and the real-world impact of interpreting work. This is a space for truth, responsibility, and action.

This interactive workshop challenges interpreters to move beyond default silence and toward intentional professional action. Through scenario-based activities and skill-building exercises, participants will examine how inaction becomes a decision in high-stakes settings. Interpreters will leave with clearer judgment, usable language for ethical interruption, and tools to recognize the moment responsibility shifts from observation to action.

Recovery Button: Your Interpreting Recovery Toolkit (.2 CEUs) (10a-12p EST)

Recovery Button is a playful, interactive workshop focused on what interpreters do when something goes off track. Through games, scenario-based challenges, and real-time practice, participants will build a practical recovery toolkit for repairing language, regaining footing, and moving forward without spiraling. This workshop emphasizes flexibility, confidence, and clean recovery in everyday interpreting work.
