Stepping Into Legal Interpreting is a Deaf-led foundation workshop designed to support interpreters who are interested in legal work and unsure where or how to begin.
This session offers a grounded orientation to legal interpreting across law enforcement, court, and other legal spaces. Rather than focusing on techniques or terminology, the workshop centers self-awareness, readiness, and ethical decision-making.
Participants will explore what to expect in legal settings, reflect on personal readiness, and gain guidance on how to begin navigating legal interpreting thoughtfully and responsibly. This workshop is intended to encourage interpreters into legal work without rushing the process.
